Now we are nearly 20 years in the future from that point. He is married to a playwright. And he has spent 11 odd years as a total whore to Microsoft. I can't blame him from an economic/starting family standpoint. But, I can't help but feel that we lost a lot of good years of work out of him.
The story we are working on we have approached from two very different angles. His vision is leaning towards a anti-hero and mine is toward a film noir hero. Because, I love the film noir hero. He has very little to lose, but he seems to lose constantly. And yet, in his losing, he gains everything he needs to crack the case, get the money, and slowly return to his tiny office and drink his bourbon (yes, I am aware of heroines in noir, but as a guy I write in the male voice). It took a genius like Akira Kurosawa to take this setting and have samurai in it. It took a genius like Sergio Leone to take this setting and put a cowboy in it. And, it took a visionary like Ridley Scott to do this to an ex-cop in a future Los Angeles.
I'm curious where it is going to lead me.
